Alyssa DavisSpecial Reading of the Young Dragon Adventures series
Wordplay Stage 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Growing up with a love for dragons, enchanted forests, and brave heroes, Alyssa dreamed of creating worlds where young readers could explore, learn, and discover their own strength.
Today, she brings those dreams to life through The Young Dragon Adventures Series, a beautiful collection that follows a young red dragon as it chooses its own destiny. Prepare to be enchanted as you enjoy a special reading of this series. This program is for children ages 4-10 and all children who attend will receive a special gift. |

D.H. AndersonIt All Started in My Barn
Wordplay Stage 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Using original watercolor illustrations, DH Anderson presents her first book, a story of the arrival and subsequent birth of a filly in her barn. She relays the emotions of excitement, anticipation, and wonder through her passionate reading style which will include an interactive element for the audience. Following the reading, children will engage in a hands-on craft with continued conversation about horses. Anderson’s goal with the Lady Thistle children's book series, all about horses, is to encourage children toward a lifelong love of horses and literature.

Silly SafariA Live Animal Show!
Wordplay Stage 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
Back by popular demand! A crowd pleaser during this year’s Summer Library Club, a Silly Safaris LIVE Animal show is the perfect blend of fact and fun for all ages! Silly Safaris keeps the entire audience involved. Special guests from the audience join each animal for a game that teaches about the natural world. You’ll see a variety of reptiles, mammals, birds, and bugs for an experience everyone will remember.

Telling Story Through SongWVPB's Writers Workshop for Kids
Wordplay Stage 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Join West Virginia Public Broadcasting for an interactive workshop exploring songwriting and storytelling. Participants will discover how stories, memories, and imagination can inspire songs while learning the basics of lyric writing, rhythm, and how syllables help shape a melody. Young writers will explore how words and music come together to tell a story.
The event will also feature readings by the 2026 PBS KIDS Writers Contest winners as they share their winning stories. We encourage children in grades K-5 to stop by and join in on the fun! |
